Calgary Wiki

The Serenity Golf Club is a 36-hole golf facility located near the community of Dalemead in Rocky View County. It is located about 3 miles south of Highway 22X.

The facility is owned and operated by Play Golf Calgary. When it is completed, it will be the first public 36-hole facility in the Calgary area and only the second in Alberta after Kananaskis.

The holes are managed as two 18-hole courses. The first course to open was named Dancing Bull. The course is a parkland type course. It was named such after the owners and architect spotted a bull moose on the property. The moose was nicknamed Monty by the team. The most pivotal holes on the course (11 to 13) were given the moniker of "Monty's Rut". The 11th is a par 3. The 12th is a reachable par five. The 13th is a long and narrow par four.

The second course will be known as Sun Catcher, which is a links type course. Nine holes (projected to be the back nine) opened in June of 2020 with the other nine expected to open in 2021. This course features two boardwalks which lead to island tee boxes on two of the holes.

Both courses have a par of 35 on the one nine and 37 on the other nine. This compares to the typical 36-36 configurations on a par 72 course. There is a choice of five tee decks with distances varying from 5000 to 7100 yards for both courses. Sun Catcher will have an additional set of forward tees where the projected yardage will be slightly over 4000.
